Pittsburgh Center for the Arts Wedding Photography

It’s always a pleasure to do some Pittsburgh Center for the Arts wedding photography .  But when you get the combination of a genuinely lovely couple, beautiful weather (oh, summer where have you gone?), and a whole lot of loving family and friends it makes for a fantastic day!

Getting Ready in the Dance Studio

Kate’s friend Becca helps her with her makeup while her other friend and bridesmaid Carin does her own makeup.

Kate’s mom Mari sees Kate in her wedding dress.

Meanwhile, the girls enjoy a toast of their own.

Kate is very beautiful.

The Ceremony

Kate and Mari share a quiet moment before walking down the aisle. This is one of my all-time favorite photos and it hangs on my office wall. To this day it elicits an emotional response in me. Maybe partially because I’m a parent, but almost certainly because this was one of those moments as a documentary photographer where everything comes together. They were unaware of my presence even though I was only a few feet away and had this brief exchange of affection. I love how Mari gently kisses Kate’s shoulder and how Kate raises her shoulder up to greet that kiss.

A bride lifts her shoulder up as her mother kisses it before her wedding at the Pittsburgh Center for the Arts.

Some details.

Groomsmen Steve (left) and Eric escort bridesmaid Becca into the reception. This is the first of two weddings I photographed that Becca was a bridesmaid. She’s in my bridesmaid’s HOF.

First dance.

Mari toasts the couple.

Pete was wise not to escalate the cake smashing.  The cake was a burnt almond torte from Prantl’s.  Mmmmm. Love the apron, Kate 😄

Lots of great dancing to end the evening.

I loved photographing this wedding. Here’s another one of my favorites with a connection to the Pittsburgh Center for the Arts.
