Energy Innovation Center Wedding
I knew this was going to be a really good one! It was pretty clear to me after getting to getting to know Rebecca and Ashu during their engagement portrait session and seeing just how sweet they are together. Their Energy Innovation Center wedding was just a perfect day!
Getting Ready at The Renaissance
The day started at the Renaissance in downtown Pittsburgh. It’s an older building that was designed to allow lots of beautiful natural light in the rooms. So in addition to being a super venue, it’s also a great place to get ready.

They got ready in the same suite then had a brief first look in the bedroom before heading out for portraits.
We headed to the Rachel Carson Bridge for portraits when I saw this scene in an alley. If I’ve learned anything over the years it’s to keep my eyes open for new possibilities even – or maybe especially – when I’ve already got an idea. Also, can they please, please, please fix the Roberto Clemente Bridge someday soon?!?
Energy Innovation Center
Portraits continued at the Energy Innovation Center. We did a few inside before heading to the roof for family formals before the guests arrived.
South Asian weddings begin with a Baraat. It’s a processional where the groom rides a horse and guests dance. The corridor of the Energy Innovation Center probably isn’t the best place for a horse but a sweet Audi A4 convertible fits really well!
Rebecca watched through a window as the processional came down the hallway.
So much fun!!
Ceremony
The ceremony was in the Covestro Brightspace. I’d photographed a conference in this room a couple of weeks prior and all I could think of was how great it was going to look for Rebecca and Ashu’s Energy Innovation Center wedding!
Ashu’s parents are such sweet folks. Lisa shot this lovely moment.
Rebecca walked down the aisle with her mom and dad.
The ceremony took place under this lovely mandap that Rebecca’s parents built.
The couple feed the Havan (sacred fire).
They circled the Mandap seven times. In Hindu belief they are joined together for 7 lifetimes.
Ashu wipes a tear as he and Rebecca exchange vows.
The couple are pelted with flower petals.
Then guests set off streamers while they kissed. So great!

So happy!!!
Reception
The room was flipped during cocktail hour and it transformed into a stunning reception space. I love that room!
The couple makes their entrance!
The first dance was in a cloud of fog provided by the DJ, Notorious Entertainment. Lisa got the dip photo!
We went back up to the roof for some portraits at sunset. I love to do this, especially during this time of year when the daylight lasts until 9. What a view!
One of the best things about South Asian weddings is that EVERYBODY is on the dance floor all night long!
Such a great day! We shot so many photos – thousands! So it was really hard to narrow them down to just a few for a post.
