Late Summer Wedding at the Art Room

Hey! It’s been a while. But the deep freeze of January is the perfect time to look back on recent weddings. So here are photos from Dara and Andrew’s lovely wedding. It was my first time photographing a wedding at The Art Room in the Strip District. The couple’s planning and vision came together perfectly. Enjoy!

A bride and groom experience The Art Room Wedding as they walk along a curving pathway beside cascading water steps. The bride, in a white gown, and the groom, in a black suit, revel in serenity. Reflections in the water enhance the romantic atmosphere of their special day.

Getting Ready at the AC Hotel

Two scenes: On the left, a woman smiling with closed eyes as her makeup is expertly applied in The Art Room. On the right, two women in a room; one in a blue dress helps the other in a white gown with jewelry for her wedding.

Dara’s mom helps with her makeup.

The groom, clad in a black suit with a floral boutonnière, stands with arms crossed, gazing thoughtfully out the window. In another scene from The Art Room Wedding, he chats and smiles with a groomsman in matching attire in a well-lit room near a bed.

Meanwhile, 2 floors away Andrew and the guys got ready for the day. I’ve got to say, the light in the AC Hotel is really nice. It’s super convenient to The Art Room and to the D.L. Lawrence Convention Center. We walked over there for portraits. More of that below.

Dara was so happy!

In The Art Room Wedding, a bride in a white gown gently taps the groom on the shoulder. They turn to each other with glowing smiles, standing before a wooden bookshelf in a modern space with dark flooring. The bride in her white gown and the groom in a dark suit hold hands, embracing warmly before a wooden shelf adorned with books and decor.

The couple wanted to do a first look before portraits. So I put Andrew in the library, where it was nice and private so that they could have a moment together before the day got hectic.

Portraits

A joyful couple in wedding attire from The Art Room Wedding embraces and laughs under a leafy tree beside a metal bridge. In the background, graffiti adorns a concrete wall and metal railing, while sunlight filters through the leaves. They are outdoors with green foliage as their backdrop, radiating joy and happiness.

You don’t have to go very far to find a great spot for portraits. We walked a block or two down to the D.L. Lawrence Convention Center and the Three Rivers Heritage Trail. You just have to watch your step — thanks geese!

Wedding Ceremony at the Art Room

The couple exchanged vows in front of the windows that provided abundant natural light for the ceremony. Even though the space is rustic and industrial, the light gives it an open feel.

In The Art Room Wedding collection, a collage captures the essence of elegance: a simple white cake adorned with flowers, glass vases illuminating pink floral arrangements, and a tastefully decorated table under a stunning floral arch at a wedding reception. Both settings are elegantly arranged against a rustic brick wall backdrop. The Art Room Wedding offers a rustic reception setup with elegant tables, white tablecloths, and floral centerpieces. The venue features exposed brick walls and wooden floors, while candles and greenery enhance the decor.

One of the nice things about having your wedding at The Art Room is that they have two adjoining spaces. So the space on the left can be used for the ceremony then flipped for a dinner reception while they guests have cocktails in the room on the right side.

Dara and Andrew rented this very cool set of vintage furniture from Vintage Alley Rentals. With the stone walls and industrial lighting it made a perfect setting for some portraits of the couple and wedding party.

The Reception

A couple joyfully enters The Art Room Wedding through open metal gates, the brick walls echoing their laughter. They dance and celebrate, smiling happily, as guests in formal attire enjoy the vibrant atmosphere from their tables.

The couple made their entrance to the reception through the gated doorway in the back of the room.

After dinner it was time to cut the cake. I saw the guests watching from the balcony and included them in the photo. Context is important in storytelling images!

Dancing took place in the room on the right. I asked the couple if they had a big finish planned to their first dance. I was ready for the dip but it’s always touch-and-go with that, so I was happy that I was in the right spot! The old pine floor is a good place to dance. DJ Joseph Costa handled the emcee and entertainment duties.

Such a happy day!

The Strip District has some great venues. Here’s another wedding from just down the street.
