Some girls really want to get married. Tradition holds that the one to catch the bouquet will be the next to get married.
In light of this, the bouquet toss often takes on a competitive edge as elbows are sharpened, position carved out, and attention focussed on those flowers. The sports photographer in me loves this part of the evening.
