St. Mary of the Mount Pittsburgh Wedding

I’d been looking forward to Liz and Justin’s St. Mary of the Mount Pittsburgh wedding for a long time.  We had a great time getting to know each other during their engagement portrait session in the fall of 2011.  I’m so grateful – they were fully invested in the process and gave me complete freedom to make photos that not only showed who they are, but how they feel about each other and their family and friends.

Getting Ready

The ladies started the day out at the salon.

Liz was a little nervous before getting her dress on.

Liz’ mom Anne worked the steamer to make sure the dress was perfect.

St. Mary of the Mount Pittsburgh Wedding

Their wedding ceremony was at St. Mary of the Mount – a beautiful church that overlooks downtown Pittsburgh from Mt. Washington.  Justin and the guys got there early.  Joining me was a new associate photographer, Lisa Eggleston.  She did a great job!

Liz didn’t want anybody to see her inside of the limo as they were parked outside of the church.

Making Lemonade Out of Lemons

After the ceremony, we went across the street for some portraits (and some fun photos like the one above).  Just about then, the limo stopped running.  It was very hot and there is no shade on Mt. Washington, so I suggested that we go up on to the porch of the rectory to get out of the sun.  I always talk about how it’s not as important where we go for portraits as it is for the couple to be in the moment.  Well, I had to put my money where my mouth is that afternoon:)  So instead of sitting around, we moved some furniture and had a photo shoot.

The limo company got the bus working (yay!) and we headed down to the Hot Metal Bridge on the South Side.

Hmmm…

Justin’s brother Andrew was the best man, which meant a speech was among his duties.  He did a great job.

First dance.

Everybody was on the dance floor that evening.

There was a body-building convention at the Sheraton that evening, some of the guests decided to have their own competition.
