I like stuff that’s real. Don’t get me wrong, dresses and shoes are beautiful and all that but I’m not going to spend a bunch of time photographing them when your mom is crying and hugging you because she loves you so much and she’s so happy that you’re happy. And your bridesmaids are crying too because they love you and are caught up in all of this joy, too. Really, the only time of the day that I’m even going to ask you to do something is when we’re taking portraits. Hey, someone has to wrangle all of those family members so we don’t spend 1-1/2 hours on the formal photos! The rest of the day I’m a documentary photographer

My photographs are vibrant, clear, and without gimmicks. I pay close attention to lighting. The shape and quality of light is a crucial element of a great portrait. It can make all the difference between a beautiful photo and a mediocre photo. Years of education and on-location experience have honed my ability to quickly assess a situation and provide the necessary lighting to make exceptional images for you.
 
That Bill Bryson quote comes from the time that I photographed him. He really said that to me but I had a nice suit on and, well, news photographers aren’t known for their sense of style.  Who am I to turn down a compliment, though?
Some personal details: Our family lives in a big old house in Crafton that we fixed up. I believe in public education and serve on our local school board. As much as I love being a photographer, if I had any musical talent I’d probably be doing that too – I’ve always got tunes playing whether I’m in my office or my car. Oh, and I run. Outside of family and photography it is my biggest passion. I’ve run over 20 marathons from Sacramento to Boston. But never get a runner started talking about running 😀
