I had a big smile on my face when I was editing the photos for this blog post – and laughed out loud more than a few times! Melissa and Joel are such expressive and fun people to be around that I just couldn’t help myself.
We met face-to-face a few months ago when Melissa was back in the US on break from medical school in Dublin. Before that we talked on a conference call, and even though I was 35 miles from Joel and 3,400 miles from Melissa it became obvious to me during that conversation that they’re very much in love.
They held their wedding at The Morning Glory Inn on the South Side. It’s a very pretty place.
I could go on, but instead here are some of my favorite photos from the day:
Melissa checks her look in the mirror while Joel watches guests arrive from his room in the carriage house. Alisha Nichole did a great job on hair and makeup for the girls:
Melissa’s friend Sarah likes what she sees:

Now, this is love!
Joel looks great but he couldn’t wait to change out of his suit after the ceremony (Caroline’s photo):
Joel and his uncle Johnny – who officiated the wedding ceremony – go over Joel’s vows before the ceremony (Caroline’s photo):
Yep, she looks fantastic. Melissa’s sister Kristyn knows it, too:

A little tear:)
Joel’s sister Jessie sang during the ceremony. She has a wonderful voice:

Jason Kendall (not the ex-Pirates catcher) plays guitar and sings during the ceremony:
I love this photo by Caroline:

Melissa’s niece Addison is adorable:
What a pair!
Stunning!
It didn’t take Joel long to change out of his suit:
Joel’s mother Chrissie plays beautifully so it’s easy to see where his sister Jessie gets her talent. We were treated to an impromptu piano recital in the parlor:

Melissa and Joel had cupcakes from Vanilla Pastry Studio. She cracks me up!
It all started so clean and innocent:
…until Melissa’s brother Brian and Kristyn got involved:
Joel definitely got the worst of it:

Kids! Brian and his wife Meghan hold their daughters Molly and Addison:
Kristyn made sure that the guests got up and danced:
The bouquet toss:
I love the look on the faces of Melissa’s friends from Ireland (left). They wisely stayed clear of the fight for the bouquet! (Caroline’s photo):
I don’t remember what song this was, but they certainly had fun singing it:
Thanks again for a wonderful summer night that we’ll remember for a long time:)
