Springwood Conference Center Wedding
Springwood Conference Center Wedding: It was yet another beautiful fall day a couple of weeks ago when we traveled to Oakmont for Madison and John’s wedding at Springwood Conference Center. Madison and John are a lot of fun – John has a silly sense of humor that cracks Madison up. She is very expressive – I’ve got lots of photos of her busting out in laughter and a big grin.
Getting Ready
The mansion at Springwood has a nice setup for the getting ready portion of the day. Madison used the big suite which has an outside stairway to the back deck, while John and the guys were just across the hall in the boardroom.
A shout out goes to makeup artist Shana Lohr for doing a fantastic job!
I love the expressions on Madison and her mom Jocelyn’s faces as her sister Elizabeth puts on her garter.
An Outdoor Ceremony
Madison and her dad Bob get ready to walk down the stairs to the ceremony.
Mother nature provided a spotlight as sunlight filtered through the trees and cast everybody but Madison and John in shadow at the beginning of the ceremony.
This was the first time I’ve photographed a ceremony at Springwood that was held on the steps to the back deck. It’s a very versatile facility: I’ve shot ceremonies in the sunken garden, the atrium, and now the patio below the back deck.
The sand unity ceremony was on a wall with shrubs behind it. I had to do a “hail mary” and hold my camera out while leaning on the wall to get the shot. I’m glad it worked out!
The first kiss recorded on a guest’s iPhone! I bet that made it to Facebook within a few minutes.
Portraits
A Grand Entrance
After Madison and John were introduced they had their first dance on the back deck with their guests all around them. It was a very nice moment.
Reception in the Atrium
Elizabeth gave a moving speech which included a beautiful poem.
On to the cake cutting.
Madison freezes John with “the look” – there was no way he was going to smash cake in her face.
But that didn’t mean that she wasn’t going to smash some in his face.
Some details.
This little guy missed a great dinner.
Let the dancing begin! The dance floor at thisSpringwood Conference Center wedding was set up in the tent outside the atrium. I enjoyed working with DJ Greg Erosenko; he did a terrific job as master of ceremonies. It was on the cool side, which worked out great – it seemed to energize the dancers.
The bouquet toss was among the most competitive in recent memory.
As a result, Caroline covered the single girls while I concentrated on Madison.
Elizabeth won out!
Bob made sure that the PG-13 rating was preserved.
Another lovely moment was the father and daughter dance.
Followed by John and his mom Joan sharing a dance.
I loved this moment during Madison’s dance with her mom Jocelyn.
It’s great when mild-mannered groomsmen turn into dancing machines!
After the dancing was done Madison and John changed out of their wedding clothes before heading to the hotel at Pittsburgh International Airport to be there for an early morning flight to Hawaii. One of the bridesmaids guards the door.
Finally, Madison heads to the car where John was waiting. What a great ending to a terrific evening!
It seems like such a long time ago when we first met to talk about the wedding. All of the thought and effort that Madison and John put into planning and preparing paid off!
This was such a fun Springwood Conference Center wedding. Here’s another wedding that you’ll enjoy for sure.
