Wedding in Pittsburgh at Sacred Heart and the Ace Hotel
I love to photograph weddings of all shapes and sizes. Kelly and Phil’s Sacred Heart and Ace Hotel Pittsburgh wedding was an intimate, private affair that included just their families. Well, except for the friend who brought over a tie for Kelly’s brother 😄
Sacred Heart is one of the loveliest churches in Pittsburgh. Kelly and Phil had perfect weather for their wedding day.
Phil is not a guy who gets dressed up very often. He’s more at home in nature digging in the dirt tending to plants. His brother got a kick out seeing him in formal wear.
Meanwhile, Kelly’s dad was so happy to see his daughter beautiful and ready for the wedding.
We took a little time for a portrait in the back of Sacred Heart.
The Ceremony
Kelly and her dad walked through an empty sanctuary to the ceremony inside of the Lady Chapel off to the side of the main part of the church.
Turning the corner into the Lady Chapel.
Kelly and Phil listen as the priest delivers his sermon.
In a nod to the ceremony being in the Lady Chapel, it was so beautiful to see the couple’s mothers stand with their children as they exchanged vows. Phil’s priest from across the street at Calvary Episcopal Church co-officiated the wedding.
A view into the ceremony through the arched entryway.
At the end of the ceremony Kelly and Phil held hands and walked into the main sanctuary.
Time for a kiss before everyone else joined them!
Portraits at the Ace Hotel Pittsburgh
The Ace Hotel is one of Kelly and Phil’s special places so we went over to the Lobby Bar where they toasted their marriage with old fashioneds.
The Ace is a super cool place and everyone was very chill about the bride and groom in their midst. There’s some great light in that space, too!
I was so happy to find that the sectional sofas in the window were unoccupied! I’ve wanted to do photos in there for a long time. It was a nice, intimate space for the couple to spend a few minutes before heading over to dinner at Kelly’s parent’s house.
Portraits in a Top Secret Garden
Kelly got permission from a family friend to use the expansive and amazing gardens outside of their home for photos. I’ve been sworn to secrecy as to the location, but it was a perfect spot for outdoor photos of the couple.
The light, the flowers and all of that greenery. I love it!
Dinner at Home
The reception plan included a delicious meal prepared by Kelly’s brother. But first, the couple showed off their dance moves on the patio.
The cake was decorated with flowers and these extremely cute little bees!
I am very grateful to have been able to be a part of such an intimate and wonderful day! Thanks Kelly and Phil!
